Description
Cast Iron Rubber Seat Gate Valve Description
The body and bonnet of the gate valve are constructed from high-strength gray cast iron per ASTM A126 Class B. This provides excellent durability and pressure containment. The interior fluid flow way is full-ported for non-clogging operation.
The wedge disc is also cast iron, with a resilient rubber coating vulcanized onto the seating surface. This rubber coating seals against the replaceable rubber seat in the body for drip-tight shutoff when closed. The disc is guided vertically into the seat to create a compression seal without leakage.
The valve stem is non-rising to prevent vertical motion during opening/closing. It is blowout-proof and features multiple O-ring stem seals to prevent pressure leaks. The stem is coupled to an outside screw and yoke mechanism for easy actuation.
A handwheel is provided for convenient manual operation. The handwheel is connected to a gearbox on larger valves for mechanical advantage. The gearbox is grease-packed and has a worm gear mechanism to prevent opening/closing from line pressure.
Flanged end connections allow straightforward installation into piping systems. Limit stops on the yoke provide easy open/closed position indication for the operator. The valves are available in sizes from 2″ to 72″ and pressure classes up to 600 lb.
The interior and exterior of the valves feature an industrial grade epoxy coating. This protects the cast iron from corrosion and provides maintenance-free service. Custom options and accessories are available to suit specific application requirements.

Cast Iron Rubber Seat Gate Valve Features:
• Durable Cast Iron Body – The valve body and bonnet are constructed from long-lasting gray cast iron. Withstands high pressures and resists corrosion.
• Resilient Rubber Seat – The wedge disc seals against a replaceable rubber seat for drip-tight shut off when closed. The rubber prevents leakage and allows for smooth operation.
• Non-Rising Stem – The blowout-proof stem is fixed in place and does not rise or lower as the valve is operated. Provides safety and convenience.
• O-Ring Stem Seals – Multiple O-ring seals prevent pressure leaks through the valve stem. Keeps the valve tight.
• Protective Epoxy Coating – The cast iron parts are coated in an epoxy powder coating as corrosion protection. Extends service life.
• Flanged End Connections – Flanged ends allow easy installation into pipe systems. The valves are compatible with ANSI/ASME flange standards.
• Available in Sizes 2″ to 72″ – A wide range of available sizes to meet your flow requirements. Several pressure classes up to 600 lb also available.
• Handwheel Operation – Large handwheel provides the leverage for easy manual opening and closing. Limit stops provide open/closed indication.
Cast Iron Rubber Seat Gate Valve Advantages:
• Tight Seal – The rubber seat provides a resilient, tight shut-off seal when closed to prevent leakage. The rubber compensates for wear.
• Low Torque Operation – The disc wedges against the rubber seat, allowing smooth opening and closing operation with minimal torque required. Easy to operate by hand.
• Durable Construction – The cast iron body, bonnet, and wedge disc provide strength and long service life. Withstands high pressures.
• Corrosion Resistant – The epoxy coating protects the cast iron from corrosion damage. Provides maintenance-free service.
• Bidirectional Flow – Can be installed for bidirectional flow and shut-off in either direction. Versatile for various applications.
• Low Maintenance – The rubber seat is the only wearing part, and it can be easily replaced if needed without removing the valve.
• Debris Tolerance – The rubber seat can tolerate some debris passing through without leaking. Reliable operation.
• Range of Sizes & Pressures – Available in a wide range of pipe sizes and pressure classes to suit your requirements. Custom options possible.
• Cost Effective – Cast iron gate valves offer quality performance at an affordable price point compared to other valve designs.
Cast Iron Rubber Seat Gate Valve Applications:
• Water Systems – Used in water treatment plants, distribution systems, pump stations, reservoirs, etc. to isolate sections for maintenance.
• Wastewater Treatment – Installed in influent and effluent lines, clarifiers, filter beds, etc. to control flow.
• Fire Protection Systems – Added to wet and dry fire sprinkler systems to allow isolation during maintenance.
• Irrigation Systems – Used for flow control and isolation in agricultural irrigation piping networks.
• Chemical Processing – Used in chemical, petrochemical and refining plants to control flow of fluids between vessels.
• Pulp & Paper Mills – Found controlling flow to pulping equipment, digesters, washers, and paper machines.
• Power Plants – Used in intake, discharge, and circulating water lines at fossil fuel and nuclear power plants.
• District Heating/Cooling – Used to isolate sections of hot/chilled water distribution loops.
• Mining – Used to control process water, slurry flows, and water drainage.
• Marine Applications – Found on bilge, ballast, cargo and fire protection systems on ships.
