What is a Lug Butterfly Valve?
Lug butterfly valves are usually made of metal, such as ductile iron or steel. They feature threaded threaded lugs located on the valve flange for bolting. Lug-style butterfly valves are suitable for end-of-pipe service, but blind flanges are always recommended.
Butterfly valves are designed to control a variety of general applications for liquids, gases and slurries. We offer lug butterfly valves in a variety of sizes, performance classes and actuation options.
What is the difference between a lug and a wafer butterfly valve?
Typically there are 8 or 12 lugs, 4 or 6 of which are used to connect each pipe segment. Wafer-style valves do not have attachment lugs, although they may have alignment lugs. They are sandwiched between flanges at both ends of the two lengths of pipe. To replace any length of pipe, the system will need to be shut down.
